Gowensville Fire Department responds to lightning strikes during severe Friday storms

Three houses, a shed were reported struck by lightning
LANDRUM––The severe thunderstorm that took place Friday evening resulted in Gowensville Fire Department responding to four separate calls regarding lightning strikes.
During the heat of the storm, GFD assisted Glassy Mountain Fire Department and Landrum Fire Department with a structure fire. The shed sustained minimal damage after being struck by lightning.
Shortly thereafter, around 7 p.m., GFD was dispatched to three separate calls for lightning, two of which were in the same neighborhood.
One home off Landy Lane in Landrum sustained minimal damage. The two other houses in the Landrum neighborhood sustained no damage.
According to officials at GFD, there were no flames at the two houses located in Landrum, and they found no damage.
No injuries were reported for any of the calls.
