Recently, a handful of dedicated volunteers cleaned up Vaughn Creek’s waterway. There was a variety of litter including a leather soccer ball, several dog balls, enough styrofoam pieces to create three ice coolers, a beach ball, several Frisbees, a lighter, a vape pen, a pair of boat shoes, flip flops, a floatation device (life preserver) and lots of bottles and cans. The clean-up was performed along the Vaughn Creek Greenway near New Market Road.
Pictured with their bounty are Karen Bird, Greg Miner, and Laura Bartholow. Present but not pictured is John Lane. Lane helped improve the stream’s appearance by removing a half dozen of automobile tires that were discarded on the creek’s streambank.
