Large area affected; service quickly restored to normal
SALUDA – A broken water main valve in the city of Saluda disrupted service for a large area on Wednesday, June 29. The broken water main affected an area from Seminary Street to Ozone Drive, including areas west to Chisolm Street and to the east along Thompson Road.
The break impacted approximately 30 homes and businesses, according to Town Manager Steve Orr. He stated the public works department was able to reroute water while they replaced the leaking valve on Hart Street.
Calls to several area businesses located along Ozone Drive indicated most were unaware there was a problem.
Orr stated that water service was returned to normal later in the morning and there was no boil water alert issued. The city expressed its apologies for any inconveniences that may have occurred.
