TRYON —Tryon’s most popular summer music series—Summer Tracks—welcomes the Peter Karp Band on Friday, June 17. Touted by Rock & Blues Muse as “one of the 75 modern Blues and Blues Rock artists you must hear in 2021,” Peter Karp and his band play a fiery brand of roots-blues they call soul-influenced Americana-blues rock.
First garnering national attention when guitarist Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones recorded and toured with him, Karp has carved his own niche in music with a sound born in the swamps of New Jersey and the trailer parks of southern Alabama. Mid-career, Karp released several albums under the Blind Pig Records label, including two with Sue Foley that worked their way to the top of the Blues and Billboard Charts. His latest release is Magnificent Heart.
New View Realty of Tryon is the presenting sponsor for this 23rd season of Summer Tracks. Green River Adventures and The Gorge of Saluda, NC are sponsoring this second concert.
All shows begin at 7 p.m. In case of rain, the concerts will move across the street inside the spacious Tryon Fire Dept. Katie D’s N.Y. Bagels & Deli will be selling a variety of slider sandwiches, hot dogs, wraps, chips and desserts. Water and soft drinks will be for sale. Alcohol consumption is allowed in the park but is not for sale.
Summer Tracks concerts are free, though a voluntary donation at the gate is encouraged. Audience donations along with many local business and individual sponsors make these shows possible. A full schedule including performers’ bios and photos can be found at www.summertracks.com.
