Redhawk Publications recently announced the publication of Repeat After Me, the sixth poetry collection and seventh publication by long-time Polk County resident and author, Kathy Ackerman.
Ackerman began writing seriously in high school, but has had several lengthy lapses through the years. Ackerman has been the Dean of Arts and Sciences and Writer-in-Residence at Isothermal Community College for more than fifteen years, and she taught English for two decades before becoming an administrator.
Ackerman comments, “I had fun writing many of these bluntly honest poems. While the subject matter is still quite serious sometimes, I was taking myself less seriously to provide a chuckle here and there. I think this book will appeal to those who enjoy being reminded that we are surrounded by meaningful images, symbols, and metaphors; even the most ordinary events can provoke insights that enrich our daily lives. Also, people who have loved and lost will relate to these poems—so, pretty much everyone.”
Redhawk Publications Senior Editor Robert Canipe remarked, “Repeat After Me by Kathy Ackerman is a wonderful collection full of humor and honesty, but also the good and bad that we all go through in life. Repeat After Me is a poetry collection that you’ll want to read through all at once because it gets better with every page.”
