Thousands of gallons of wastewater enters nearby creek
TRYON– On the morning of Thursday, June 2, the Town of Tryon said there was a discharge of untreated wastewater from manhole #10, located on Braewick Rd. An estimated 1,000 gallons of wastewater entered into Little Creek, a small creek alongside Braewick Rd. in Tryon
The overflow lasted around thirty minutes and the amount of untreated wastewater discharged was estimated to be around 3,000 to 5,000 gallons.
According to Tryon Town Manager Zach Ollis, the incident took place as a result of a clog.
“The wastewater system is old and long overdue for some upgrades. We are currently waiting for approval on a project to get some new equipment that will hopefully prevent such things as the incident that happened today,” Ollis said Thursday afternoon.
