Delays push opening back once more
LANDRUM––This past weekend was the beginning of the farmers market season in Landrum, and the new Landrum Pavilion at Market Square was fully expected by vendors and city officials to open in time to welcome local shoppers to the Landrum Farmer Market on Saturday.
Last week, Landrum city officials confirmed that the new Landrum Pavilion at Market Square would open its doors for the first farmers market, but another delay in construction pushed the opening back one week.
The first farmers market of the season instead took place along N. Shamrock Ave., where it has occurred for many past seasons. Tricia Taber of the City of Landrum says that even though the farmers market didn’t take place at the new pavilion as expected, they still had a wonderful turnout.
The delays at the new pavilion had to do with electrical and plumbing subcontractors. This Saturday, May 14, the grand opening of the new Landrum Pavilion at Market Square is still expected to take place. It will host its first Landrum farmers Market from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the new pavilion, and the grand opening will take place from 7 -10 p.m. A ribbon cutting will take place at 6:30 p.m., and beginning at 7 p.m. there will be a free community concert by Dirty Grass Soul.
