PCVC squads enjoy successful weekend at Liberty Classic

Polk County Volleyball Club’s 17U team battled through a field of 22 teams this past weekend to take second in the Liberty Classic in Spartanburg.
Competing in the Junior Volleyball Association Challenge Series event, the PCVC Shawn squad won its first four matches, all in straight sets, to reach the tourney championship match.
There, PCVC dropped a hard-fought 25-22, 28-26 decision to Crossfire 17 Anna, based near Easley, S.C.
PCVC’s Savannah club also took part in the tournament, competing in the 13 Girls division and placing ninth in the 25-team field.
The 13U squad finished 2-2 in pool play, earning a spot in the Silver bracket. The team won two dramatic matches in Silver play – defeating Upward Stars 13 MK 22-25, 25-19, 15-13 and Upward Stars 13 Alyssa 27-25, 27-25 – to reach the Silver championship match.
There, PCVC dropped a 25-23, 25-10 decision to Carolina Juniors Volleyball 13 Olivia.
