Storytelling, poetry and Latin Grammy winner coming to Super Saturday

Leland Faulkner will present “Walker Between Worlds” at Super Saturday 2022 on March 19.. Faulkner is a member of the Bad River Band of Chippewa Indians in Odenah, Wisconsin. “Walker Between Worlds” is a harvest of Faulkner’s favorite traditional Native stories told with an original perspective. These traditional tales of wonder are full of entertaining lessons from Turtle Island, and are a gift and legacy for future generations. It is a celebration of the beauty and simplicity of human imagination and the power of community. Showtimes are at 9:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. at the Tryon Congregational Church.
Allan Wolf will perform “Immersed In Verse: Poetry Palooza!” at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at Tryon Theatre. Two time winner of the North Carolina Young Adult Book Award, as well as Bankstreet College’s prestigious Claudia Lewis Award for Poetry, Allan Wolf is the author of picture books, poetry, and young adult novels. Booklist has named his historical verse novel, The Watch That Ends the Night, one of “The 50 Best Young Adult Books of All Time.” The award-winning poet and master presenter performs poetry from memory, mixing theater, music, and audience participation. Attendees at this show will experience contemporary and classic poetry in a wide variety of styles and subjects. Wolf will share poems from his many books, using music, juggling, and fun audience participation.
Ben Gundersheimer, also known as MISTER G, is a Latin Grammy Award-winning artist, author, activist, and educator. Hailed as “a bilingual rock star” by the Washington Post, he tours internationally, playing everywhere from Lollapalooza to Lincoln Center. His spirited bilingual performances aim to help children see each other across borders and foster cross-cultural connections.
Ben has released ten albums as MISTER G and received numerous accolades including five Parents’ Choice Gold Awards. He tours internationally, performing in both English and Spanish. Fluent in a broad range of genres and styles, Ben collaborates widely with internationally renowned musicians, both onstage and in the studio.
MISTER G will perform at the Tryon Fine Arts Center at 9:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on March 19. Tickets will be available at the Tryon Fine Arts Center box office March 15, 16, and 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and March 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as the day of Super Saturday.
