Columbus— Bobby Wilson Stevenson, 79, of Columbus, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 3, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital due to heart complications. He was born on December 28, 1942, in Wheeler County, Georgia.  Bobby was a retired mechanic. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church, Columbus, NC.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sara Teal Stevenson, Columbus, NC. Two daughters: Catherine Stevenson Elliott (Dewayne), Columbus, NC, and Lynn Stevenson Elliott (Dean), Cassatt, SC.  Six grandchildren: Kelli Elliott, Inman, SC, Elisabeth Betancourt (Manny), Stafford, VA, Katie Elliott, Inman, SC, Joel Booker, Columbus, NC, Rebecca Elliott, Stafford, VA, and Kimberly Elliott, Inman, SC.  Two great-grandchildren: Gemma Teal Betancourt and Ruby Rosa Betancourt, Stafford VA. Siblings Mitchell Stevenson, McRae, Georgia, Frances Stevenson Ward (Randall) Rentz, GA, and JoAnn Stevenson Jones (Larry) Kathleen, GA. Many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Bobby was preceded in death are his parents, Nora Gertrude Floyd Stevenson and Paul Mitchell Stevenson. Siblings: Edward Stevenson and Shirley Stevenson Haygood.
Services will be Friday, January 7, 2022, at Midway Baptist Church, Columbus, NC. A visitation will be held in the church sanctuary from 10:00 am to 10:45 a.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 am. Reverend Dean Elliott will officiate the service. The celebration of life will be live-streamed on Midway Baptist Church’s Facebook.
