In Polk County District Court on Dec. 15, 2021, with Judge Emily Cowan presiding, 127 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.
The following persons were convicted of a crime:
Jaquan M. Bowman was convicted of speeding 85 mph in a 65 mph zone. Bowman was fined $500 and court costs.
John Wayne Franklin was convicted of misdemeanor probation violation. Franklin was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
Sheila Adkins Hall was convicted of speeding 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. Hall was to pay court costs.
Lori Jonas was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Jonas was sentenced to 5 days in jail.
Michael Hernande Lopez was convicted of speeding 79 mph in a 70 mph zone. Lopez was fined $30 and court costs.
Kenneth Lee McDowell was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear on misdemeanor. McDowell was sentenced to 2 days in jail with credit for time served.
Christopher Ed Savage was convicted of 2 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Savage was sentenced to 3 days with jail with credit for time served.
Iva Lindsay Watt was convicted of resisting public officer. Watt was sentenced to 1 day in jail with credit for time served.
Shakur Anthony Wingo was convicted of speeding 54 mph in a 45 mph zone. Wingo was fined $50 and court costs.
Adan Cruz Cruz was convicted of speeding 74 mph in a 65 mph zone. Cruz was fined $96 and court costs.
In Polk County District Court on Dec. 22, 2021, with Judge T. Mack Brittain presiding, 114 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.
The following persons were convicted of a crime:
Peter Anderson Binder was convicted of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a schedule VI controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance and felony possession of cocaine. Binder was sentenced to 2 years supervised probation, 96 hours of community service, a $300 fine and court costs.
Haley E. Burns was convicted of level 5 driving while impaired. Burns was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation, 24 hours of community service, a $100 fine and court costs.
Novita Jesili Cepeda was convicted of unsafe movement. Cepeda was fined $50 and court costs.
Zedekiah G. Coleman was convicted of possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce and unsealed wine/liquor in passenger area. Coleman was fined $50 and court costs.
Tyler Douglas Helms was convicted of level 5 driving while impaired. Helms was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation, 24 hours of community service, a $100 fine and court costs.
Robert Brandon Holt was convicted of speeding 59 mph in a 50 mph zone. Holt was fined $30 and court costs.
David Andrew Justice was convicted of possession of marijuana paraphernalia and 2 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Justice was sentenced to one year supervised probation, 48 hours of community service, a $200 fine and court costs.
Stephanie Lee Keck was convicted of speeding 74 mph in a 65 mph zone. Keck was fined $50 and court costs.
Bresni Alberto H. Sosa was convicted of possession of open container/consumption of alcohol in passenger area. Sosa was fined $30 and court costs.
Margo Doris Thomas was convicted of speeding 74 mph in a 65 mph zone. Thomas was fined $50 and court costs.
Roy James Woody was convicted of misdemeanor larceny. Woody was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation, 48 hours of community service, a $300 fine and court costs.
