SPARTANBURG – Della Mae Benefiel Gibbs, 83, of Spartanburg, passed away, Saturday morning, November 13, 2021, at her home.

Born in Arcola, IL, she was the daughter of the late Walter Benefiel and Bessie Elizabeth Chapman Benefiel and wife of the late Raymond Gibbs who passed away in 1996. Mrs. Gibbs was a private duty CNA for many years and was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church in Spartanburg. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds and working with her house plants.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Ray Gibbs.

Surviving is one son, Glenn Gibbs (Doris) of Black Mountain; three grandchildren, Jason, Samantha, and Matthew; one great-grandson, Liam. Also surviving are her very close friends, Carrie and Marrion Smith, Mark and Kathy Bush and Doris Partain.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Coopers Gap Baptist Church, Mill Spring with Reverend Donald Hollifield officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the church.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
