The Marye Jane Priddy Children’s Library at Columbus Library will open this week. While not totally complete, many exciting updates have been made. Stop by to check it out!
The libraries will be closed on Thursday, November 11th for Veterans Day. The libraries will close at 6pm on Wednesday, November 24th and remain closed Thursday, November 25th-Friday, November 26th for Thanksgiving.
During November and December, Saluda Library will feature a series of silk wall hangings from local artist Lori Loftus. Stop by the library to see and purchase her artwork during regular business hours.
The following In-Person programs will be available this month at the libraries:

Introduction to Compass Navigation
Wednesday, November 3rd @ 4 p.m.
Columbus Library
Learn how to use a compass with June Sisk, Lead Recruitment Manager and lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. This program is designed for kids; however, all ages are welcome to attend!
Chimney Rock presents Animals of Appalachia
Thursday, November 4th @ 4 p.m.
McCreery (Saluda) Park Pavilion
Join a Chimney Rock Park ranger to learn about the wildlife in our region! During the Animals of Appalachia program, you will get personal with some animal ambassadors and gain knowledge on their habits, adaptations, and characteristics.
Teen Craft Party: Neon Wire Signs
Tuesday, November 9th @ 4 p.m.
Saluda Library
6th-12th graders are invited to the Saluda Library Teen Space for a crafting party! Snacks will be provided and we will make neon wire signs. Register to guarantee your spot by emailing Jen at jdickenson@polklibrary.org.
Digital Couponing with Southern Savers

Back by popular demand! Jenny Martin, creator of Southern Savers and couponing extraordinaire, will lead couponers of all experience levels through the world of digital couponing just in time for holiday deals.
Disaster Readiness with the Red Cross
Wednesday, November 17th @ 5 p.m.
Saluda Library
Katie Scheip, Disaster Program Specialist for the American Red Cross, will lead an informative session on how to best prepare your home and family for disasters that may affect Polk County.
Super Smash Brothers Tournament
Thursday, November 18th @ 4 p.m.
Columbus Library
Compete to see who is the ultimate champion in Super Smash Brothers on the Nintendo Wii U! A trophy will be awarded to the winner. *This program is for all ages but please note the game is recommended for ages 10 and up.
Cozy Crafts & Cocoa
Tuesday, November 30th, 4-7 p.m.
Columbus Library
Scrapbook, knit, crochet, or paint? B.Y.O.C. (bring your own craft) and settle in for an evening of creativity at the library. We’ll turn on our digital fireplace and serve up hot cocoa while you use the large space and tables for crafting.
