2nd annual stair climb at clock tower in memory of 9/11 firefighters
TRYON—The 2nd annual Memorial Stair Climb was held at the Clock Tower in downtown Tryon on Saturday, Sept. 11 in memory of the 343 firefighters who gave their lives on 9/11.
Katheryn Gordon, Audrey Bagwell and Lindy Buss completed this year’s stair climb.
The women climbed 1,980 stairs at the clock tower, which is equivalent to the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. The firefighters who lost their lives were only able to make it to the 78th floor, however.
The women climbed up and down the Tryon Clock Tower stairs 66 times to honor the fallen firefighters.
