Polk trains new K-9 Rudik to work at jail and schools
COLUMBUS—The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has a new K-9 to work specifically in the detention center and at the schools.
K-9 Rudik recently passed training along with his handler, Dep. Damato.
Rudik was trained to keep controlled substances and contraband out of the Polk County Detention Center as well as to assist in keeping the schools safe and secure.
Rudik is the first of his kind for Polk County in being specifically trained for the detention center.
Rudik was trained by Astro K-9 Academy out of Simpsonville. Astro K-9 Academy did training at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office campus on July 1.
Astro provides quality trained working dogs in the fields of law enforcement, search and rescue, tracking, service dogs and personal/executive protection.
