State offering drawing for people who have been vaccinated

POLK COUNTY—Anyone in North Carolina who has been vaccinated has a chance to win $1 million as the state is offering a drawing. 

Anyone 18 and older who has been vaccinated has a chance to win $1 million and anyone 12-17 years of age has a chance to win $125,000, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. 

There will be 4 people who will win a $1 million prize and 4 children who will win $125,000 following the drawings. 

The first drawing will be done on June 23 and the drawings will continue every week on Wednesdays until Aug. 4. 

The NCDHHS reports that the state has had 1,007,273 cases; 548 people in the hospital and 13,246 people who have died across the state from COVID-19. 

“As we continue to emerge from this pandemic we know that vaccines are the key to beating this virus,” stated NCDHHS officials this week. 

The cash drawing incentive includes that anyone getting their first shot from Friday going forward will be entered twice for each drawing. 

North Carolina is joining other states that have million-dollar drawings to promote vaccinations. 

North Carolina still has around 2.5 million people who are not vaccinated.
