Gospel singing, barbeque starts June 29
COLUMBUS—After taking a year off because of COVID-19, the Columbus Fabulous Fourth Celebration will be back again this year.
The Town of Columbus is currently planning the celebration, which will be held on Saturday, July 3 this year because of the 4th falling on a Sunday.
The 48th annual BBQ and gospel singing at Veterans Park will also be held from June 29-July 2 to benefit the Town of Columbus Fire Department.
The Fabulous Fourth Celebration will be an all day event in downtown Columbus, with a drive-in car show on Gibson Street from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The festival is downtown from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. with opening ceremonies beginning on stage at 10 a.m. and music beginning after.
Kids rides will begin on July 2 from 5-10 p.m. and on July 3 from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. The rides are located in Stearns Park.
There will be more than 50 food and craft vendors at the festival.
Columbus Town Council decided last year to cancel the festival because of the state’s COVID-19 restrictions on outside gatherings. Those restrictions have since been lifted and the town decided to go forward with the festival this year.
The night will end with the town’s firework show.
