Local organizations partner to landscape Columbus
COLUMBUS—People may notice several areas of Columbus have new plantings, thanks to organizations coming together to spruce up town recently.
The Polk County Appearance Commission, Polk County FFA, Horticultural and Agricultural classes, Green Blades Garden Club and town employees recently came together to get new plantings at Columbus Town Hall and Veterans Park where the Charters of Freedom is located.
The town and Discover Columbus both recently thanked the organizations for their work.
The Polk County Appearance Commission gave a grant for the project, the Green Blades Garden Club did the planting evaluation and design plans, John Vining gave advice on plants and Chauncey Barber at the high school and the town public works crew did the work on planting.
