TRYON – Doris Edney Lehoskay, 90, of Tryon passed away Tuesday morning, May 4, 2021 at Smith Phayer Hospice House.

 

Born in the Pacolet Valley of Tryon, she was the daughter of the late James M. Edney and Helen Morton Edney and was one of thirteen children. She was a graduate of Tryon High School Class of 1948 as Salutatorian. Mrs. Lehoskay volunteered at nursing homes for 18 years giving birthday and Christmas parties and sing alongs.

When her husband retired, they moved back to Pacolet Valley, where they built their home. Doris returned to the Congregational Church where she had been a member since the age of 3 and returned to singing in the choir. Doris loved her family, music, birds and reading but most of all her God.

 

Surviving is her husband, Andrew Lehoskay; one son, Andrew Steven Lehoskay of Maryland; four brothers, Carl Edney, Carroll Edney (Teresa), Douglas Edney and James Edney (Judy) all of Tryon, NC; three sisters, Marjory Sichert of Indianapolis, IN, Shirley Harris (Arthur) of Sebastian, FL, and Bonnie Pendleton of Sebastian, FL. Also surviving are one grandson, Andrew Robert Edney of Tryon.

 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 10, 2021 in Polk Memorial Gardens with Reverend Meghan D. Young officiating.
