COLUMBUS – James “Neb” Nesbitt Conner, 81, of Columbus passed away Sunday morning, April 4, 2021.

 

Born in Walker County, GA, he was the son of the late John Walker Conner and Marjorie Bell Walker Conner. Mr. Conner was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the 82nd Airborne. After his service to our country, went on to graduate from Western Carolina University earning his Bachelor of Arts. He retired from Henderson County Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Mr. Conner was a former member of the Tryon Country Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Neil Conner; three sisters, Betty Burgess, Pauline Conner and Patricia Taylor.

 

Surviving is his wife of 20 years, Anna Pack Conner; one stepson, John Gillie (Elizabeth) of Columbus; one stepdaughter, Laura Walker (Gary) of Tryon; one brother, Pick Conner of Carrollton, GA; four sisters, Ina Constance of Columbus, Geraldine Harris of Mooresville; Ellen Taylor of Asheville and Ruth Brown in Carlsbad, NM. Also surviving are twenty-two nieces and nephews; three grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus.

 

Military honors will be conducted by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
