MILL SPRINGBoyce “Bill” Leroy Jackson, 93, of Mill Spring, went home to be with the Lord Thursday morning, March 11, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Forest City.

 

A native and lifelong resident of Polk County, he was the son of the late John A. Jackson and Frances Constance Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII and Korea. During his working career, he worked 61 years for NAPA Auto Parts up until his recent sickness. He was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church for 78 years having served as a deacon for 62 year and taught the Men’s Sunday School Class for 38 years. Mr. Jackson was a member of the American Legion Post in Tryon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Regina Jackson and Barbara Wilson; one brother, James Jackson; two sisters, Wilma Jackson and Virginia Jackson Jones.

 

Surviving is his loving wife of 73 years, Genelle Bradley Jackson; one son-in-law, Mike Wilson of Mill Spring; one grandson, Michael Ryan Wilson (Lindsay) of Easley; two great-grandchildren, River and Rowan Wilson; one sister, Hazel Horne of Green Creek.

 

Mr. Jackson will lie in state from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel for anyone wishing to pay their respects.

 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Silver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Robert Hefner and Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.

 

Military honors will be conducted by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.

 

Memorials may be made to Silver Creek Baptist Church Brotherhood, 4391 Silver Creek Road, Mill Spring, North Carolina 28756.

 

The family would like to thank the Staff at St. Luke’s Hospital, Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Kindred Home Health and Polk County Home Health for the care given to Mr. Jackson during his final weeks.
