Polk ranks 7th in state for most small businesses
POLK COUNTY—A recent study from SmartAsset has ranked Polk County as the 7th in North Carolina for the most small businesses.
The study used IRS data and compared the number of tax returns that report small business income to the total tax-filing population of the region to determine the prevalence of the small business population in each county.
There are 100 counties in North Carolina. The study ranked Polk County as one of the highest small business population in the state.
Hyde County ranked the highest in North Carolina, followed by Dare County; Watauga County; Orange County; Avery County; Transylvania County; Polk County; New Hanover County; Buncombe County and Carteret County, according to the study.
