TRYON, NC – Franklin Loving, age 93, of Tryon, North Carolina and Longboat Key, Florida passed away peacefully December 31, 2020.  Born in Washington, D.C., Frank spent most of his youth in both Maryland and Oklahoma.  He attended George Washington University until called into service in WWII.  Following the war Frank continued his education at the University of Maryland and post graduate studies at General Motors Institute of Technology.

 

Throughout adulthood Frank was involved in a number of business ventures.  He owned a Chevrolet dealership in Maryland along with a Hughes Helicopter dealership.  Later Frank participated in thoroughbred horse breeding and racing, managing multiple commercial properties in Florida and owned a grape vineyard in Arizona.

Frank is survived by his wife Ann; daughters, Deborah, Kimberly, Leslie and Melissa; a son, Christopher; a stepson, Ty; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Frank was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Graham, his first wife, Lynn and a daughter Laurie.

 

Through most of his life Frank was blessed with good health and was able to enjoy many activities including golf, tennis, flying, horseback riding and boating.  He was commodore of the Maryland Coast Guard Auxiliary #45, vice commodore of the Poplar Island Yacht Club in Maryland and a member of the Sailfish Club in Palm Beach and the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club.  Even into his ninetieth decade Frank could be found captaining his boats large and small.

 

Frank was an amazing man who lived life to the fullest.  The family takes great comfort in knowing that he left “no stone unturned” and will live on in the memories of his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

 

A private service for family will be held on a future date.  Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 374 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC  28043.
