For years, the Daffy-Jills Garden Club has decorated the Polk County Library for Christmas with wreaths, garlands and, of course, Christmas trees. This December, however, they’re trying something entirely new—a Christmas tree decorated entirely with flowers that were grown and dried by the members themselves.
Because such a novel undertaking can produce equally novel challenges and surprises, a few of the members gathered (socially distant, of course) in member Mary Lance’s garage for a trial run on a smaller tree. The results were, to say the least, very encouraging.
The real decorating begins at the Library this week — on Wednesday, December 2. Keep your fingers crossed that the flowers hold up, and plan to stop by to admire the final product.
