Damaged transformer leaves 500 Landrum residents without power

On Sunday morning, the south area of Landrum experienced power outages due to an issue with a transformer on a power pole.

Fairview Baptist Church on Hwy 14 and S. Blackstock Rd. is where the incident occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. Sources on N. Blackstock Rd. say they heard an explosion around this time, which resulted in approximately 500 homes losing power.

Power was restored shortly after 10:00 a.m. after the transformer was repaired.
