RUTHERFORDTON – James Manning Cooley Sr., age 76 of 63 Coyote Pass Rutherfordton, NC passed away Thursday at his home. James was a native of Greenville County, SC and a retired carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cora Lee Spicer, parents Walter and Inez Bannister Cooley and daughter Elaine Weathersby.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Candie Garcia Olvera, James Manning Cooley Jr., Lois Hallock and Jessie Spicer; a brother Thomas Cooley and sisters Jean Harling and Faye Wood along with 10 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Grassy Knob Baptist Church Cemetery. James will lie in state at the graveside from 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
