Tree down on I-26 caused multiple vehicle crashes Wednesday
FOOTHILLS—The Foothills area received at least 3.4 inches of rain Wednesday night with yet another set of storms that came through the area.
Some areas received heavy rains and high winds and at least 73 area Duke Energy customers lost power.
The storms began in the late afternoon Wednesday and continued until early Thursday morning.
The Saluda Fire Department responded to a tree down along Interstate 26 around 8 p.m. Wednesday, which caused multiple motor vehicle accidents. The tree was down along Interstate 26 West around the 61-mile-marker.
The Columbus Fire Department assisted Saluda, where one lane was shut down until clean up was finished.
The National Weather Service tracks weather in the area, which is documented at the Tryon Water Plant.
Wednesday received 3.4 inches in Tryon, while other areas varied.
The month of April produced 9.53 inches of rain, according to the NWS, with other storms on April 12 producing 3.34 inches of rain.
The normal rainfall for the month of April is 4.58 inches of rain, according to the NWS.
Storms on April 23 produced 1.17 inches of rain.
This weekend is predicted to be dry with high temperatures Saturday at 75 degrees and 84 degrees on Sunday. Monday and Tuesday calls for rain as well as next Saturday.
