St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees recently announced that Katie Malone has been chosen as their new Executive Director. 

Malone joins St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation following a successful career as a professional triathlete and coach for 18 years. She has been instrumental in organizing major events including the Assaults on Mt. Mitchell and Lake Lanier’s original Ache Around the Lake fundraiser for the Foundation. 

“I’m delighted to join the excellent team at St. Luke’s,” said Malone. “Having the opportunity to serve my hometown by helping ensure quality healthcare is available for future generations of Polk County residents is an honor.”  

“We are thrilled to welcome Tryon native Katie Malone to the St. Luke’s Foundation team,” said Board of Trustees Chair Jay Geddings. “Her background of exemplary teamwork and ability to successfully organize and lead is the perfect combination to guide the Foundation into the new decade.”

A graduate of the University of South Carolina and previous manager at Lockwood Greene Engineers in Spartanburg, Malone’s experience includes executing strategy and boosting performance through results-oriented leadership. With a service-focused background, she has been actively involved in community leadership throughout her career and looks forward to bringing her skill set to the non-profit arena. 

“Katie brings a deep knowledge of the Carolina Foothills and a passion for performance improvement,” said St. Luke’s Hospital CEO Michelle Fortune. “We are delighted to welcome her to our team and look forward to utilizing her fresh perspective to advance healthcare in our area.”
