TRYON—The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding an abandoned infant found in a bag just outside Tryon on Friday.
The baby was discovered in a black bag in the parking lot of the Trinity Lutheran Church, located along U.S. Highway 176 in Tryon.
The sheriff’s office said Friday night that the infant is currently under medical care.
The infant was found Friday at approximately 12:17 p.m.
“The infant is currently under medical care and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances leading to the infant being discarded in such a manner,” Polk County Sheriff’s Office Staff Attorney and Public Information Officer J.J. Sauve said in a release Friday night. “Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation no further details can be released at this time.”
The sheriff’s office is seeking any information from the public regarding the case.
