School bus involved in head-on collision

CAMPOBELLO – A bus taking students from Campobello-Gramling School home had a rough end to Monday. An accident involving the bus and an SUV occurred around 3:30 p.m. The incident happened near the corner of New Cut Road and Gowan Road.
The other vehicle involved crossed the centerline resulting in a head on collision with the bus. There were six students on the bus at the time of the accident resulting in no injuries the crash. EMS workers checked out the students as a precaution to the incident.
Campobello Police Chief, Chad McNeill, was asked about the accident at the Campobello town council meeting on Monday evening. McNeill shared, when he arrived on the scene, he was quite surprised to see that there were not any existing injuries. He went on to say, “It was a hard hit but we’re just glad everyone walked away with no injuries.” The driver of the vehicle involved was charged with crossing the centerline.
District One school officials and local law enforcement officers were on the scene of the accident immediately. District One responded quickly and made parents aware of the accident as soon as it happened, and everyone checked out to be fine.
