Irma Jean Anderson, 78 of Blackshear, Georgia, former long-time resident of Saluda, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 6, 1941 to the late Mr. Morris and Mamie (Anderson) Crews in Baxter, Florida.
Ms. Anderson was a long time resident of Saluda, North Carolina but had been living with her son in Blackshear for the last 2 years. She also spent some time in Orlando. In Saluda, Ms. Irma Jean was deeply involved in her community. She volunteered for many years with Fork Creek Baptist Church, where she was an attending member. She worked in bookkeeping, as well as maintaining the grounds of the church and working vacation bible school. She was the definition of a caregiver, devoting much of her time to the Veterans hospital in Asheville and for elderly people in the community.
When she had free time, Ms. Irma Jean enjoyed arts and crafts, working in her garden, and most of all, spending time with family. She also loved bluegrass and southern gospel music. She will be remembered as a loving and caring woman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mr. Edward Anderson, and her brother Mr. Tommy Crews.
She is survived by her sons: Audie (Kim) Beverly and Max Cloud of Blackshear, and Randy (Renee) Cloud of Clermont; daughter: Tammy Price of Blackshear; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters: Marylee Chessman, Betty Lyons, and Sarah Burnsed all of Glen St. Mary; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
The family will be receiving friends Friday, November 29, 2019 at Sanderson Congregational Holiness Church from 10:30 am until 11:15 am.
A service to honor Ms. Anderson’s life will begin at 12:00 pm at the church.
Immediately following the conclusion of the service, she will be laid to rest in Taylor Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. “Hank” Forbes Jr. and Hawke M.T. Forbes of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny, FL.
