Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
|
Since its inception 44 years ago, the goal of TubaChristmas has been to preserve and expand the appreciation for the music provided by a Brass Choir. To this end, there has always been the effort to encourage the next generation of potential players to take part in the concerts. Middle School, High School and College age students are encouraged by their teachers to be a part.
This year, there are eight students from the Polk County High School registered to take part in the concert. History has shown that there will be representatives from other schools.
Featured this year, again, will be a Brass Quartet from the Western Carolina University performing a special number.
Even the members of the audience will take part as they are asked to join in singing a verse or two or three.
The Conductor this year will be Dr. Joe Brashier from Hendersonville. Dr. Brashier is a retired Music Educator who earned degrees tom the University of Southern Mississippi and his doctorate in Conducting from the University of Kansas. He taught in public schools and Appalachian State University, Rutgers University and Valdosta State University. He has led bands throughout the US as well as in Europe, China and Australia.
Remember the Date: Saturday, December 7, at 1:30 p.m. at Polk County High School.
