TRYON- Over 200 runners came out on a brisk fall morning to participate in the 2019 Tryon Half Marathon benefiting Thermal Belt Outreach Ministries. This race was held on Saturday, November 16th.
Runners from all over were preparing for the race, with some getting to the location as early as 6:30 a.m. to warm up. The runners lined up at 8 o’clock a.m. at the starting line located at the entrance of Harmon field.
Runners made their way down highway 108 towards the Lynn post office, and then towards Carriage Row, which was the halfway mark and turnaround point for the race. The racers were able to take in the beauty of the foothills as they traveled along the North Pacolet River.
According to halfmarathons.net, the race was twenty-five percent paved roads and seventy-five percent gravel packed roads. Runners experienced a 100-foot gain in elevation that made it an easier trail and created a peaceful run. Racers were invited to enjoy a delicious breakfast after the race and enjoy a time of fun and celebration with everyone involved.
