On Friday, October 18, 2019, Terry Kent Savage passed away at the age of 82 at Mission Hospital.

Terry was born on February 23, 1937 in Aurora, Illinois to Rusel and Mary Savage.  He went to DePauw University in Indiana where he emerged “educationally unscarred’ as he liked to say.  He joined Sears, Roebuck and Co when he graduated as that was the “family business” with grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts and his brother working there.  He met his wife, Margo, 43 years ago at Sears where she was also working.

After a long career at Sears at the Chicago headquarters, Margo and Terry decided that they had enough of the winters there and decided to move their horses and dogs to warmer weather.  After spending weeks looking at places all over the South they decided on the Tryon/Columbus area and settled here 21 years ago.

Terry enjoyed working on the farm and following the Chicago Cubs. He often said that he could die happy if they would win a World Series—and they did! He also enjoyed doing sound scripts for the Links Golf Game and had a large following of players waiting for his next updates.  Most of all he loved the animals he had through the years.

Terry is survived by his wife, Margo, his dog Mack and the horses Joe and Abby.

No service or memorial will be held per his request but donations in his memory would be gladly accepted by his favorite charity—Foothills Equine Rescue Assistance (FERA) at P. O. Box 14, Columbus, NC 28722.
