Inez (Bonnie) Wenner passed away on May 30, 2019, just a few days prior to her 94th birthday. Bonnie died as she wished: in her home, in her bed, and in her sleep content in knowing that she left no work undone nor words unsaid.
Bonnie was born in 1925, in Chicago, Illinois to Dr. Gene Waterson and Agnes Louise (Markovski) Burrows. In 1947, she married John Gillespie Wenner. Her husband, parents, brothers Gene Jr. and Charles, and her eldest daughter, Judy Pope, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters Deborah Dendler of Newton, Massachusetts and Elizabeth Block (Robert) of Eugene, Oregon, five nieces, one nephew, six grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
Bonnie graduated from nursing school a short time before motherhood required all of her attention. She returned to nursing once her daughters were grown. Her happiest post was taking care of the newborns and mothers in the maternity ward at Highland Park Hospital in Illinois. She was an avid knitter and quilter, and almost every wall in her beautiful home was adorned with one or more of her award-winning quilts. She loved her forest from which she wrestled away a few small plots near her front door to plant flowers and shrubs and was ever vigilant to keep her gardens happy.
