Donald Anthony Partaka, 60, pleaded guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to the Spartanburg County Solicitor’s Office.

Deputies found Hood dead inside Partaka’s home, located at 219 Patterson Road, Campobello on Oct. 11, 2017. Partaka and Hood worked together at the Village Greens Golf Club, located between Campobello and Inman.

Partaka, who had no criminal history in South Carolina, originally told investigators he shot an unknown intruder who came into his home. Authorities later determined with evidence that that story was untrue.

Investigators said there was no sign of forced entry at Partaka’s residence. Partaka also told investigators he had been drinking in the hours leading up to the shooting and admitted he knew Hood from working with her at Village Greens.

Deputy Solicitor Derrick Bulsa prosecuted the case against Partaka.
