Health care professionals, local government officials and other members of the Polk County community put their heads together to find some potential solutions to a number of health-related problems afflicting the local area during a forum that took place Thursday evening at the Isothermal Community College Polk Center in Columbus. Nearly 50 people attended the discussion, where they learned the results of the 2018 Community Health Assessment and shared some ideas on how to better address mental health needs and how to encourage local residents to eat healthier and become more physically active. The forum was organized by St. Luke’s Hospital, the Rutherford-Polk-McDowell Health District and Polk Fit, Fresh and Friendly. (Photos by Ted Yoakum/Tryon Daily Bulletin)
