Saluda Living in Place has many programs planned throughout 2019, designed to change the experience of aging through access to services, education, social activities and community involvement.
Some upcoming programs include:
At 10 a.m. Thursday at the Saluda Fire Station, SLIP will offer “Downsizing with Heart,” a program developed and presented by Jill Hart.
Hart is well-versed in the overall needs of seniors and their support network. She is a senior’s real estate specialist and is the only certified senior advisor in western North Carolina.
This presentation will help seniors set small goals and learn about resources available to help in the process of downsizing.
Later that day, at 2 p.m. at the fire station, SLIP will continue its Ageless Grace program, taught by Saluda resident and certified Ageless Grace instructor Donna Humphries.
The program teaches 21 physical skills needed for lifelong optimal function. All exercises are done sitting in a chair and emphasize various anti-aging techniques, such as joint mobility, balance, upper body strength and improved memory.
SLIP’s Advisory Council will hold its first meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the SLIP office at 1347 Ozone Road, Suite 3, Saluda.
At 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, “Home and Safety Assessment” will be offered by Frank McNutt at the First Baptist Church, 213 Henderson St., Saluda.
Those interested in learning more about any of these events or who like to arrange transportation to them may call SLIP’s office at 828-490-1040. Those interested being added to the organization’s mailing list can email becampbell@charter.net.
