Emmy Award-winning playwright to visit TFAC Tuesday

The Stage Door Series at Tryon Fine Arts Center will host a staged reading from Dark Horse Theater Project at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Reservations are open now for “She Speaks,” a selection of published monologues and one-act plays by Annie Evans.
Evans is a seven-time Emmy Award winning film and television writer, and has worked extensively on “Sesame Street,” stage musicals for “Sesame Street Live!,” Sesame Place, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Beaches, Universal Studios and for touring companies in Germany, the Netherlands, China, Australia and Singapore.
Evans’ plays have been produced at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, Manhattan Class Company, Circle Repertory Company, the Powerhouse Theater at Vassar, the Ensemble Studio Theatre, the Hudson Theatre and the Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights Conference, among many others.
A graduate of Brown University, for many years, she was the literary manager and produced a year-round reading series for New York Stage and Film Company. She has taught at Gotham Writers Workshop, the National Puppetry Conference and internationally for “Sesame Street” in Mexico, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, South Africa and Northern Ireland. She has also been a consultant for UNICEF, developing international theater programs.
Catherine Gillet will direct local actors Rosalind Ashford, Tara Sweeney, Marianne Carruth, Lori Corda, Joshua Clarke and Joel Perkin for the one-night-only performance, with a Q&A to follow.
The evening will run approximately 90 minutes. Audience members will be seated backstage on the Veh Stage for this intimate reading.
