‘Have a HeArt’ for BBBS opens Jan. 12
Published 8:00 am Saturday, December 22, 2018
Opening earlier than usual this year at Upstairs Artspace in Tryon, the annual Have a HeArt benefit marks the eighth year of this fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Area artists are invited to donate works of “heArt” for the silent auction event. Artists create in various media, including ceramic, metal, jewelry, fiber, paint and other materials, in ways to visually represent the universal symbol of love.
Hearts are due to Random Arts in Saluda or Tryon Town Hall by Jan. 7, or to Upstairs on Jan. 8.
The HeARTs show will open with a reception from 5-7 p.m. on Jan. 12 at the Upstairs. The HeARTS will be displayed upstairs, while the gallery will continue its 40 years of history exhibit downstairs.
Following the opening, the pieces will be available for silent auction bidding during the hours of noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday through the closing bids reception, at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 26. Winners will have their hearts in plenty of time for Valentine’s Day gifts.
This project offers area artists a meaningful and creative way to support a local charity that serves children in the local community and inspires potential and positive growth, BBBS representatives said. By supporting this project, artists and bidders help Big Brothers Big Sisters bring more grace and opportunity into the lives of these “Littles.”
Sponsorships are needed to help offset the costs of the event.
