New Prospect Elementary teacher and Landrum High School Head Cross Country Coach Brett Morley finished first in the recent Humana Rock ‘N Roll Marathon Series in San Antonio, California.

Morley beat out over 4,000 competitors with a time of 2:30:41.

“Winning the Rock N’ Roll San Antonio Marathon was definitely a highlight in my professional running career,” Morley said. “The atmosphere and support that I received on the course in San Antonio and by the race directors were amazing.

“I was thrilled to be able to bring home a win for myself and also a win for the Spartanburg One family and my Landrum High School students.”

Morley is working toward reaching the Olympic qualifying standard of 2:19, in hopes of qualifying for the 2020 or 2024 Olympic Marathon Trials. Last year, Morley qualified for the USA Track and Field National Half Marathon Championships and is hopeful he will once again achieve this goal, in addition to qualifying for the USATF 10 Mile National Championships.
