This year’s Polk County Toy Run brought 220 people, 140 motorcycles and 21 bags of toys for Polk County children in need this Christmas. The toy run began at the Saluda Fire Department and went through Tryon, Landrum, Green Creek, Mill Spring and Columbus. Cyclists finished at the Polk County Courthouse in blistering cold conditions on Saturday. The event is organized by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Polk County Department of Social Services, Thermal Belt Outreach and Steps to HOPE, which also distributes the toys. Organizer Barry Gee thanked all the fire departments, first responders and the sheriff’s office personnel who helped this year’s event.
