Thanks to community donations, St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation recently funded a “Game Ready Pro” for St. Luke’s Hospital’s rehabilitation department.
As a therapeutic modality, Game Ready Pro provides cold- compression therapy to help patients recover after an injury or surgery. The equipment is used by thousands of patients, athletes, athletic trainers and pro teams, and can now be used in Columbus.
“Because of donations from our generous community during our spring/summer appeal, St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation was able to fund, in full, the Game Ready Pro for rehab services,” said Meshelle Colvin, SLH Foundation executive director.
Used by St. Luke’s Hospital’s Rehab Department, the Game Ready Pro System with active compression delivers cold therapy that works faster, penetrates deeper and lasts longer than other treatment modalities, foundation representatives said. This therapy system works to accelerate and enhance recovery by integrating pneumatic compression and cryotherapy to reduce pain and swelling, reduce muscle spasms, enhance lymphatic function, encourage cellular oxygen supply and stimulate tissue repair, naturally and without narcotics.
“I’ve seen the Game Ready Pro System be a life changer for those recovering from surgery and injuries. It brings such relief to what can be a painful recovery,” said Scott McDermott, director of St. Luke’s Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services. “We have the appropriate therapeutic sleeves for patients recovering from leg and knee surgery, as well as arm and shoulder surgery and injuries.”
