Congregational Church of Tryon to host presentation on Buddhism Wednesday

The Congregational Church of Tryon, in partnership with Thermal Belt Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, will host a community event, “Finding Buddha Within,” with Marc Mullinax, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at The Congregational Church of Tryon, 210 Melrose Ave., Tryon.
A light meal provided during the event, based around fellowship and exploring another world faith.
The Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, in partnership with The Thermal Belt Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Tryon, will welcome the Rev. Mullinax, a Baptist minister and professor of religion and philosophy at Mars Hill College.
Mullinax will present an introductory “Dharma Talk” on Buddhist Basics. Included in this talk will be relevant historical stories of the Buddha, basic teachings, the roles of karma and enlightenment, and the influence that meditation has in the 21st century.
Also included are music and a video, with a Q&A following.
