Cathy Jean Thompson Roper, 66, lost her battle with cancer on Sept. 11, 2018.

She was a loving girlfriend, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She loved her little dog, “Mac,” and to get lost in a book.

Born in Spartanburg County on March 31, 1952. She was the daughter of the late M.E. ”Gene” Thompson and Nelda Jones Thompson. 

She was a member of Lynn First Baptist Church, and a graduate of Tryon High School.

Survivors include her longtime boyfriend, Fred Brian Beaty of Landrum; a son, Marshall E. “Brandon” Roper (Sandy) of Inman; one grandson, Marshall “Obi” Roper of Inman; two sisters, Beverly Large (Cowan) and Bobby of Landrum and Stacy Thompson Henson of Tryon; two nieces, Shelley Crawley Langley and Patrick of Greenville and Kelsey C. Roper of Tryon; three nephews, Matthew Cowan of Landrum, Tyler Horne and Collin Mills of Tryon; one great-nephew, Taylor Crawley of Greenville; and one great-niece, Halie Owens of Greenville.

She will be deeply and forever missed.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at the Meeting Room in the Landrum Depot, 211 N. Trade St., Landrum.
