In the upcoming Tryon Summer Youth Theater production of “James and the Giant Peach,” Ladahlord — the magical narrator who knows exactly what is going to happen — is played by someone who is no newbie to the Tryon stage — Cash McFarlane.
“Ever since my first play with Tryon Little Theater I have loved theater,” McFarlane said. “I really get to express my creativity in my characters and everybody involved is so helpful and encouraging.”
McFarlane is 15 years old and is a junior at the early college. Some of her past roles include Charlie in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” and a mersister in “The Little Mermaid.”
“James and the Giant Peach,” a collaboration between Tryon Little Theater and the Tryon Fine Arts Center, opens July 18 at TFAC with an Indoor English Garden Party — garden party attire is suggested.
The regular performances are July 19-22, and tickets are available at tltinfo.org or tryonarts.org. People may call 828-859-2246 for more information.
