The Rotary Club of Tryon inaugurated Fred Hartley as the club’s president for 2018-2019 at its meeting on June 28.

Adopting the Rotary International theme of “Be the Inspiration,” Hartley challenged club members to look around the community to find ways that Rotary can inspire service above self.

Former President Ken Shull and Hartley started the tradition of switching the Rotary International Theme banners this year. Last year’s theme of “Making a Difference” was combined with this year’s theme of “Be The Inspiration” to encourage members to make a difference by being the inspiration.  Both themes speak to the purpose of Rotary, an organization that makes a difference in the local community and around the world, representatives said.
