Tryon couple Kip and Carol Jean Vosburgh recently competed in the Swamp Rabbit Triathlon, winning gold and bronze medals.

The event was held at Furman University on Sunday, June 23. The race began with a pool swim, followed by a 16.5 mile bike course over a host of climbs, 5K run partially on the Swamp Rabbit trail and finished with a loop back to the campus.

The couple, both in their 70s, hoped to set an example by inspiring and encouraging others, regardless of age, to do all they can, while they can, they said.

The triathlon benefits Mere Christianity Forum — a campus ministry serving the Furman, Travelers Rest and Greenville communities.
