The Kiwanis Club of Tryon recently welcomed local music teacher Woody Cowan to its meeting last week. Cowan has taught music for 31 years in his home of Polk County. He has experience teaching high school and middle school music, and is currently teaching K-5 students. He holds degrees from Brevard College and East Carolina University. During the district’s annual fourth and fifth grade musical, titled “Music We Love Award Show,” Cowan received a lifetime achievement award. “One of my biggest thrills is sharing my love of music with my students,” Cowan said. Kiwanian Eloise Johnson asked Cowan to speak to the club that day. (Submitted by Eloise Johnson/Photo courtesy of Boyd Correll)
