Upstairs Artspace’s new board of directors has been installed, and they are already hard at work, gallery representatives said.

“Events celebrating the gallery’s 40th anniversary year are underway,” said Board President John Walters. “Committees are also preparing for a new exhibit featuring 11 artists, opening June 23; a special screening of a David Hockney documentary in July; Art Trek, planned for Sept. 28-30; a fall show opening Oct. 20; and an anniversary gala in December.

“And, this is a particularly exciting time for us as we have received a grant from the community foundation that will match dollar-for-dollar any donations coming in.”

The contemporary arts gallery is located at 49 S. Trade St., Tryon.
